Biography and Background

Ronald J. Mendive I have been a resident of Idaho since 1955 and married for 51 years. I am the father of 3 grown children and grandfather of 6. Presently I am semi-retired with a seasonal land service & construction business. My work history includes mining, logging, and building custom homes. I also was involved in developing and patenting the first successful self-igniting pellet stove.
I enjoy fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, canoeing & camping.

Issue 1


Property tax relief With Idaho’s explosive growth, property values continue to rise. Many are unable to afford the increase in taxes, especially those on a fixed income. This session there was a major proposal to remove property taxes from the primary residence for Idaho citizens. It was not adopted.

Issue 2


Education Savings Account Simply put, it would allow state allotted money for education to follow the student. Most students do fine in the traditional K-12 model, but one size does not fit all. ESA’s empower parents to find the best educational pathway for their child’s needs.

Issue 3


State control of federal lands With 62% of the land in Idaho’s borders belonging to the federal government, Idaho has no ability to control our own destiny. We are forced to rely on federal money for our very survival.
