Lynn Guyer

State Representative Legislative District 7 Seat A

Biography & Background

I was born and raised in Weiser Idaho. I was born and raised in Weiser, Idaho graduating in 1982 “Go Wolverines”. After graduation I spent one year at Boise State University then transferred to Lewis Clark State College where I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and minors in Psychology and Sociology. After graduating from LCSC (1986) I went to work at North Idaho Correctional Institution. I spent 30 years working in corrections both probation/parole and prisons. The last 13 years of my career was Warden at NICI.

While working at NICI I met my future wife Susan Sonnen. We were married in November 1989 and have three grown children. Amanda, Kara and Seth. We have three grandsons.

I have served the Cottonwood community as Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Prairie Booster Club, Girl’s JV basketball coach, served on the Prairie School Board for almost seven years and currently serve on the Cottonwood City Council as the Sewer Commissioner.

Lastly, my family and I are avid outdoor enthusiast. We love to hunt, fish and camp and just enjoy being out in God’s country.

Top 3 Issues:

1. I am a supporter of second amendment and will everything within my power to insure the residents of Idaho never loose the right to bare arms.
2. I believe Idaho needs to protect its’ public grounds to allow for hunting, fishing, and recreation, from out of state investors such as the Wilks Brothers. They have a history of restricting access to Idahoans and the lands we love. This is wrong.
3. We need to address mental health and substance abuse issues in Idaho. The Idaho Department of Correction cannot be our main mental health provider. Investing in our health workforce is beneficial to our public health and economy in terms of economic output.
