Biography and Background

Julie Ellsworth was elected as the Idaho State Treasurer in November 2018. She has a long history of public service which includes serving in the Idaho House of Representatives.

As a Legislator, Julie worked closely with former State Treasurers as she served on the germane oversight committees. It was during this time she assisted the treasury in obtaining the state’s high bond rating by meeting with Wall Street rating firms to answer questions about Idaho’s financial status and public policies.

Since taking office, Treasurer Ellsworth has taken a very hands-on approach. Whether it is with the day-to-day operations of the office, the Boards on which she serves or in responding to constituents, Julie is committed to ensuring the office is efficient, transparent, and focused on customer service.

In addition to her legislative service, she has functioned as a Civil Mediator/Facilitator and Business Consultant. She was a Foundation Grant Evaluator and Judge as well as a teacher in Idaho’s public schools.

Julie Ellsworth grew up in Idaho and has worked to promote a pro-family environment for the state. Currently, she helps to manage the Ellsworth Family farm & ranch located in Carey, Idaho. She and her husband have three children and three grandchildren.

Issue 1


Increase Transparency in Government State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth created the annual “Treasurer’s 0ffice Transparency Report Card”. She successfully co-sponsored legislation reinforcing the Prudent Investor Act and is implementing public disclosure platforms for investment fund information as well as proxy vote data.

Issue 2


Reduce Our Property Tax Burden Julie Ellsworth provided a $13.5 million property tax savings over the past two years. As chairman of the Idaho Bond Bank Authority (IBBA), Julie will work to lower the cost of bonding for Idaho’s local property taxpayers.

Safeguard Our Access to Financing Ellsworth is protecting access to financing for Idahoans and our natural resource industries. She is working to stop undemocratic, woke efforts to implement non-financial or subjective criteria for measuring investment options & credit worthiness of legal businesses and individuals.
