Jon Krueger

State Senator Legislative District 8

Biography & Background

I grew up in Nyssa, Oregon, and spent my childhood in the mountains of Idaho and on the desert of eastern Oregon. When I graduated High School, I joined the US Air Force. I spent the next 20 years serving, with three overseas tours to Germany, Iceland and England, and numerous deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and others. I was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in 2004, and Idaho officially became my home. My expertise lies in Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Physical Security and Program management. My last few years, before my retirement in 2020, were spent as the Wing Exercise Planner for Mountain Home Air Force Base, where I spent my time conducting strategic planning and regulatory compliance. I am a student of the world and a diplomat, having served with the Department of State in Pakistan. I have an Associates degree in Criminal Justice, and 20 years of experience leading people. I am the chairman of the Rattlesnake Liberty Alliance in Elmore County, an Honor Guard member of the American Legion, and a life member of the VFW.

Top 3 Issues:

1. Restore Freedom – Many governmental oversights were allowed throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic. I would defend in statute, and even through Idaho Constitutional Amendment, the rights of individuals to work, keep their businesses open, worship as they see fit, and make decisions for themselves and their families as they see fit. This extends to Medical and Education freedoms, and I am in support of school choice. The First Amendment to the US Constitution is the sword, the word, if you will, that gives the people the power. The Second Amendment is the shield that protects our rights, and it must not be infringed.
2. Tax reform – I am a fiscal conservative, and believe we spend far too much tax money in places it should not be. I will fight for grocery tax repeal, and property tax reform. I believe Idahoans deserve to own their land, without fear of rising taxes and assessments against unrealized gains forcing them to unjustly lose their property.
3. Protect our Elections – I would pursue voter ID and Mandatory in-person voting, with only a few common sense exceptions, in order to restore faith in our election system. Also, ballot handling rules and procedures need a hard look, and I believe my experience in physical security and asset protection give me a unique perspective on ways to accomplish ballot protection.
