Eric Parker

State Senator Legislative District 26

Biography & Background

My name is Eric Parker. I’m 39 years old. I live in Blaine County where my wife and I raise our four children. I make a living working in the trades.

I’m a conservative with Constitutional values that I will use when examining legislation.
Low Taxes, small government, defined responsibilities. My view on government is that it is a system to be maintained. A system of checks and balances. I believe that the legislative branch often seeds its control and responsibility to the executive branch or fails to check the usurpation. I believe this issue has come to a head in the last 2 years and that is a large part of why I’m running again.
I will not shy away from my responsibility to stand against any oversteps from the Executive or Judicial branch.

I founded a not-for-profit here in Idaho that works with lawmakers at the capital. Our volunteers monitor upcoming legislation for what we view as bad or unhealthy language. Bad language is anything that isn’t clearly defined or that would violate the established rights of Idahoans. We’ve been referred to as constitutional advisers by numerous representatives.

I was the Republican candidate for the Senate seat in the last general election.
I received 43% of the vote in what was referred to as one of Idahos Bluest districts, against the 8 year Democrat incumbent.

I believe that support was due to my message of responsible government, individual liberty, and prioritizing small businesses the working class, and their families. I also believe my support has continued to grow over the last 2 years.

Top 3 Issues:

1. Parental Rights My priority has always been the 1st amendment. The right to peacefully redress grievances with the government is a fundamental issue that affects all people. To me, It’s obvious at this point that the right of parents as political participants in their children’s education needs to be protected and it’s the responsibility of the state. I believe parents are the primary stakeholder in their children’s education. I am a parent. I have four children I do not believe we should be forced to Co-parent with the local, State, or Federal government. Parents must have the final say.
2. PUBLIC LANDS Public access is very important to me. Whether my family and I are hunting, camping, or just out on a day trip looking for the next best picture we spend a lot of time on our public land. That’s why I will always advocate for the best management and the most access possible. I am a strong supporter of the Good Neighbor Authority that the Idaho Department of Lands has enacted, and I would like to see it expanded.
3. LAW ENFORCEMENT & FIRST RESPONDERS I feel the defund movement is dangerous. I am against the defunding of local law enforcement. I believe lack of funding leads to inexperienced untrained officers. I will always communicate with our local and state law enforcement and first responders at all levels to understand their needs. I will always protect their authority and jurisdiction.
