Biography & Background

I am a lifelong resident of South East Idaho. I was raised a farmer’s daughter and brought up with potato, grain, barley, and cattle farming being a large part of my childhood. I graduated from Highland High School and then entered the active duty army for 4.5 years serving in primarily in SW Asia during Desert Storm and then at Fort Hood, TX. I worked at the US Postal Service until retirement, and own a small gun shop in Pocatello with my husband, Joe. I have served my country, and feel the call to serve again now as a representative of the people in my district.

Top 3 Issues:

1. Liberty/Rights. I have seen our individual rights threatened by unconstitutional authority both locally, by our state, and from the federal government over the past two years with an alarming rate and intensity. I have felt called to stand in the breach, to represent the people of district 28 and defend their inalienable rights to life, liberty and property in my role as their legislator.
2. Education. I believe there is a need for school choice whether in public education or in charter/private schools as well as home school. I think it would encourage diversity, competition, and excellence if we could have the dollars spent on education follow our students into the schools that best meet their individual needs as decided upon by the child’s parents. I would also like to see the study of our Federal and State Constitutions and other founding documents resumed in our schools. As the “law of the land”, each and every citizen ought to have a basic understanding of them. I also think the use of any Marxist theory in Idaho classrooms ought to be removed. Marx sought to divide the people and turn them against one another…we are all created equal and would be much better served if we came together, united as citizens.
3. State Sovereignty. Idaho’s resources are some of the most valuable assets we as Idahoan’s possess. We should not allow the federal government to run rough-shod over us to restrict, regulate, or shut down any development or project that we, as a state, see fit to explore or take advantage of in the betterment of our state or people. The resources of our lands, water, forests, farming, wildlife, etc are ours as citizens of Idaho. We as a state need to ensure that all of these are being utilized for the benefit of every Idahoan. The federal government should have no say in how we as a state assert or administer these resources. I also believe in principled conservation of our lands and water and that our stewardship will be our legacy to future generations.

Except for the provisions specifically noted below, I support the Idaho Republican Party Platform and accept it as the standard by which my performance as a candidate and as an officeholder should be evaluated. I certify that I am not a candidate, officer, delegate or position holder in any party other than the Republican Party.”

Term limits is the only place I find any difference from the party platform.
