Carl Voigt

State Representative Legislative District 27 Seat A

Headhsot of Carl Voigt for Idaho House 27 Seat A

Biography & Background

I moved to Idaho in 1993 to attend Boise State University, graduated with a BS Degree in Sociology in 1999. Began teaching in the fall of 2000, completed a Masters of Education from the University of Idaho in 2006. also completed an Education Specialists Degree from the University of Idaho in 2010. I have taught both high school and middle school, as well as being a jr high principal and district director. I currently teach jr high in Burley. I am married with 4 children, 3 adult and 1 school age. I want to represent my community for a limited time as a public servant then turn that responsibility over to the next person ready to help lead this State.

Top 3 Issues:

1. Broken political system, I believe our current political system is broken. We need to return to a political system in which qualified citizens offer to take on the responsibility of guiding our government for a specific period of time, representing ALL the people of the district, state, nation then returning to the career they had before being elected. Being a politician SHOULD not be a career choice. WE spend millions on getting people elected for offices that pay far less than many other jobs, why? Being a citizen politician should be a public service, not a lifetime career. In order to stimulate more interest from NON politicians we need term limits.
2. Education, we need more educators making local decisions about what best works for the schools in that community. Eliminate all high stakes testing. Increase professional technical opportunities for students including younger grades.
3. Less government.

Integrity in Affiliation

Submission: Yes

“I have read the Idaho Constitution and the Idaho Republican Party Platform. Except for the provisions specifically noted below, I support the Idaho Republican Party Platform and accept it as the standard by which my performance as a candidate and as an officeholder should be evaluated. I certify that I am not a candidate, officer, delegate or position holder in any party other than the Republican Party.”

While I personally do not believe in abortion, it is not a decision that the government should get to regulate.

Privatization does not reduce cost, or improve quality in many cases.

I support both national and state TERM LIMITS for ALL elected offices.
