Idaho Ranks 5th Best in Nation for College Readiness

Boise – Idaho earned the Number Five spot in the nation for college-ready students, according to newly released numbers from U.S. News & World Report.

Partnering with McKinsey & Company, U.S. News yesterday ranked the top 10 states for college readiness based on the percentage of students who met SAT and ACT assessment benchmarks.

The rankings, and percentage of students meeting SAT and ACT benchmarks, are as follows:

  1. Connecticut. College-ready students: 62 percent
  2. Massachusetts. College-ready students: 60.6 percent
  3. New Hampshire. College-ready students: 60.2 percent
  4. Michigan. College-ready students: 55.9 percent
  5. Idaho. College-ready students: 55.2 percent
  6. New Jersey. College-ready students: 51.6 percent
  7. Vermont. College-ready students: 51.6 percent
  8. Hawaii. College-ready students: 50.1 percent
  9. Virginia. College-ready students: 50.1 percent
  10. Delaware. College-ready students: 49.7 percent
